Welcome to Holy Family Parish

Holy Family Welcome to the website of Holy Family Parish in Amherst, Nova Scotia.

Holy Family Parish was formed in December of 2006 after the amalgamation of the two Catholic Parishes in Amherst - Saint Charles Borromeo and Nativity of Our Lady. This was a result of the Forward in Faith Process put forth by the Archdiocese of Halifax.

Plans are underway to build a new Holy Family Church and Parish Center beginning in 2008. We hope you will visit our Campaign pages for further details as our financial campaign in now underway.

Our weekly Parish Bulletin is also posted here on our Website, providing access to current information, meetings and upcoming events.

We are also looking forward to re-establishing our Guestbook. Comments and suggestions are always welcome and this page will facilitate that activity. The Guestbook link will be active very soon. In the meantime, the comments from the original Guestbook have been retain are available on the Original Guestbook page.

We have attempted to preserve the history of our two former parishes on this site. Much of our recent past is found on the About Us pages.

Rev. John McCarthy, M.A. wrote The Story of the Establishment and Development of the Catholic Church in Amherst Nova Scotia. His chronicle is located on the Our History pages.
